About Us

Aaron & Kelly Soldavin

We have always loved horses and all things related to them, including old farms and equipment. We purchased our farm in July 2007 and we've been slowly making it horse friendly by adding stalls to the barns, planting and fencing pastures, and running water lines from the house to the outbuildings...just to name a few things.

The two of us enjoy the equestrian sports of combined driving and eventing. Both are the triathlons of the horse world, challenging the horse and rider or driver over three phases of competition, each of which tests a different set of skills. Our focus is on training and competing horses and ponies for both sports, and also placing them in wonderful homes, allowing others to enjoy and learn from them.

Aaron is a native of the Delaware Valley area, growing up in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. He began riding at the age of 12 and was active as the president of the Somerset County 4-H Club and member of Amwell Valley Hounds and Hunterdon Hills Pony Clubs. His first horse was Traveler, a former racehorse that needed a new purpose in life. Together they made an incredible team, competing through the FEI* level in eventing (Traveler & Aaron).

Aaron received his bachelor of science degree in large animal science from Delaware Valley College, Doylestown, Pennsylvania, in 2001. He started driving during college and it was a natural progression to move from eventing to combined driving. Aaron has stayed active with United States Pony Clubs (USPC) as a vice regional supervisor and horse management judge for USPC Nationals.

Kelly was born in Santa Monica, California, but spent most of her "growing up" years in Marietta, Georgia, where she was active as the vice president and reporter for the Cobb County 4-H Horse & Pony Club. Kelly has been riding since the age of 5 and her 12th birthday present was her first horse, Judy, a quarter horse mare (Judy & Kelly).

In subsequent years, two other quarter horses--Copy (Copy & Kelly) and Rocky--became Kelly's partners. Both had great success on the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) circuit. In 1998, Kelly moved north with Rocky to pursue her bachelor's in large animal science at Delaware Valley College. During her college years, Kelly competed in the disciplines of side saddle, dressage, and eventing.

We met in December 1998 as fellow college students and spent our college years training and competing together. We were engaged in June 2000 and married in October 2002 (pictures here), five months after Kelly graduated.

Horses have continued to be a very big part of our lives since then.
Kelly & Traveler formed their own partnership, eventing through the preliminary level. And in 2000, we began participating in the sport of driving, beginning with pleasure driving and then adding combined driving to our repertoire.

We've have and have had the most amazing ponies to drive--you can read all about them on The Critters page. Our horsemanship philosophy is strongly based on cross training, so all our ponies (and horses) drive and ride, enjoying ridden activities such as dressage, show jumping, eventing, trail riding, and fox hunting, to name some of the fun we all have had together.

Sadly, we have lost some of our most precious equine partners ~ Traveler and Rocky, and other special ponies. However, we've also happily placed other horses, ponies, and donkeys in wonderful new homes, and delight in seeing their new owners enjoy them.

While the two of us have full-time careers outside the horse industry, our passion is our farm and the critters. We hope you enjoy the pictures, information, and stories we share on this site.
